Some Compute Canada legacy systems are being kept in operation during 2017/2018 but under a best-effort management plan. These are generally older systems which are prohibitively expensive to put under vendor support contracts. If a major component such as an interconnect switch or a storage array controller should fail, it may result in immediate and final withdrawal of that system from service. Minor failures will be handled by local staff as time and resources permit.

You may use these systems, but you should make plans against significant downtimes and possible final termination. You are also responsible for backing up your own data. Please see the following regional pages for availability and policies about such systems:
